YOU ARE CORDIALLY INVITED TO THE RYEN WEDDING!

We’ve been looking forward to celebrating this important milestone with you in Ho Chi Minh City for years! Bringing our closest people together… across oceans, cultures, and years of love and friendship means everything to us. Thank you for even considering making the journey.

We’ll be sharing more details as plans take shape, but for now, we put together some broad guidance to help you prepare for this adventure. We’re here for any questions about travel, logistics, or our celebration.

Yen’s Story

Yen was born in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and moved with her family to Seattle in 1996, when she was four years old. She grew up on the west coast, going to boarding school at Cate in Carpinteria, California before an undergraduate degree at Yale brought her to the east coast. Her lifelong pursuit has been providing high quality education to children everywhere, at first in the classrooms of Chicago and now through the power of cutting-edge technology.

Ryan’s Story

Ryan was born in Pontiac, MI but grew up in Chester, NJ. Throughout his early life, he channeled his energy into art, music and ice hockey. These natural interests eventually brought him to RISD, an art school in Providence, RI where he trained as an industrial designer and played for the Brown University Club Hockey team up the hill. In the time since, he’s worked as a designer in Chicago, bringing countless products from an idea to a sketch to people all over the world.

Our STORY

We met in 2015 on a snowy night at a bar on the Yale campus. Brown was playing Yale and a blizzard forced the Bears to spend the night in New Haven. From the moment we met, we knew we had to see each other again despite the distance. For the next year, we took the Metra back and forth between New Haven and Providence until Yen graduated and moved to San Francisco. When Ryan took his first job in Chicago we knew we had to make it work. We reunited for good in 2018, and now we call Chicago home. We’ve built an amazing life together including a home, our dog Molly, great friends, and a loving family.
